Speaking Dog ~ MECHANICAL Coin Bank ~ Antique ca.1885 ~ Mfg. by J & E Stevens Co.Here from my collection is an original antique cast iron “Speaking Dog” mechanical coin bank mfg. by the J & E Stevens Co. and designed by designed by Charles Shepard ca.1885. ~ It’s a wonderful example of the quality the USA manufacturers use to create! ~ This bank was used but very little, note the paint! ~ It’s in exceptional! ~ As seen in the photo of the base, it dates ca. 1885. ~ The mechanism operates by placing a coin on the girls paddle, press down on the lever and the arm goes back and the dogs mouth opens. ~ The mechanism is in very good operating condition! ~ The case is in exceptional condition, no cracks, chips or repairs. ~ Size: 7.25" T. x 8" L. ~ Boxed weight 8 lbs. NOTE: Mechanical banks made before 1900’s are becoming more difficult to find. ~ I’m selling off my collection so check my other listings; I have (3) others.
