Speaking Dog mechanical bank. Size is about 8" L, 7 1/2" H, and 3" W. This bank is being sold in As-Is Condition. This is a most complicated original mechanical bank - one of a few banks made for girls. Patented by Charles G. Shepard and Peter Adams, Jr. of Buffalo, NY, and the dates on the bottom of the bank is stamped Pat. July 14, 1885 and October 20, 1885. First made by Shepard Hardware then by J.& E. Stevens Co. of Cromwell, CT. This is the Shepard made bank with the rectangular locking trap. The coin deposit movement has been tested and it works, and the dog's lingering tail movement is most enjoyable. This bank comes with a key that works, with a #3 on the key, which may or may not be original. The overall original paint on this bank appears to be in good shape. The girl has blond hair and a red dress with white collar and trim, and the face paint has crackles. As many of these banks were made over a number of years, please check the photos for color and condition. The bank weighs about 5 pounds, so it will be about 6 pounds for shipping costs. This is just one of a 9 bank private collection, and they are all amazing original banks in very good working condition. Check my current listing to see the others. Again, not being a mechanical bank collector, the listing information was researched from , and is listed as MB# - 24
