It's unusual that the New England Glass Company was the only glass house to make use of heart silhouette canes - even more unusual to find well over 50 hearts packed into one paperweight. This 2 1/2" paperweight is depicted in John D. Hawley's book, The Boston & Sandwich and New England Glass Companies, and had an article, also by John Hawley, devoted to it in the Paperweight Collector's Association's 2003 Annual Bulletin , the 50th anniversary edition. The weight itself is chock full of canes - examples other than hearts abound. It has an overall pastel look and a very loose ground under the canes of translucent green chips. The finish is original - t's light scratching on the dome, a few teensy fleabites, and a 1/8" ding on one side. The reserve on this weight is a bit higher to be sure, but it is a special scramble which would be a wonderful addition an any antique weight collection. Please note that shipping and insurance are included in the pruchase price. I accept Paypal, cashiers and personal checks, and money orders.....I welcome all questions.
