Here is an amazing hand pieced and hand quilted ca late 1800s Oceans Wave quilt. Splendid colors and patterns are offered in a glorious array of early small print calicoes. The small triangular pieces are just 2 inches wide and pieced in the tiniest of stitches. The diamond quilting is worked at a rate of 10 -13 stitches per inch. The red and black print binding is hand sewn (again in tiny little stitches) to the eggshell backing. The condition is excellent with crisp fabrics and probably never washed. We see no holes, tears or wear and only minor storage related soiling including some light tan spots to the cotton muslin backing. The measurements are generous, approx. 92" by 70".
