The Notogoneus osculus is one of the more unusual fish from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. Found almost exclusively in the famous 18 inch layer, they can attain lengths of nearly 2 1/2 feet. It was probably a bottom feeder. This specimen is exceptionally well articulated and in it's natural limestone. T is absolutely NO RESTORATION on the present specimen. Measuring 21 inches on matrix of 18 x 30 inches. The stone has been backed with masonite for framing and hanging purposes. It would be perfect as a piece of wall art!
