THE SPHINX NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD!!! This little perfume bottle is off-white, washed with a "sandy" brown glaze that settled in the details. It is complete with the original crown stopper which is in good shape and easily removed. The clear glass rod which was with it when it was made is missing however. Under the crown are the remains of a band of gold paint which must have been solid originally. The head of this Sphinx is complete . His handsome face has eyes, nose and mouth. He is wearing a traditional-type Egyptian head piece which crosses his forehead and falls behind his ears to his shoulders. T is a small raised triangle on the middle of the forehead piece. He appears to be wearing a necklace or some kind of chest decoration. From t on, the body changes from man to animal, his paws and ribs deliniated. He measures 3 1/2" long and 3" at his tallest point. T are no marks on the bisque white base, but I think the bottle is German-made. T are no damages, cracks or chips that I can see. Please email me with any questions. |
