Very rare 1905 Spithead Naval Review lantern slide 3.25 x 3.25 inches. This fantastic and unique photographic Lantern slide was taken in August 1905 and shows the Royal Navy manned Portsmouth- Gosport Ferry - Sandringham ferrying visitors out to the Grand Fleet - wonderful view of the fleet. Ferry On 9th August 1905 the Great International Fleet review by King Edward VII took place at Spithead on the Solent just outside Portsmouth harbour Almost the entire Northern Squadron represented France and included several huge Pre-Dreadnaught Battleships. Many of the latest British warships were also on view for most of the crowned heads of Europe to see. Royalty were ferried and feted around the fleets by the latest Royal Yacht Victoria and Albert 111 and also by the Victorian paddle steamer Royal Yacht Osborne .
