EXQUISITE BISQUE BUST OF MARIE ANTOINETTE
or PRINCESSE de LAMBALLE Absolutely beautifully detailed bust of Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, or, quite possibly, Princesse de Lamballe. The figurine measures 12 inches tall by 4 Ã,½ inches across her base and app. 6 Ã,½ in the widest part. The bust is made out of a white Parian fine bisque porcelain. The figure represents a true artistry in detail. She is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or damage of any kind. On the bottom of base the bust bears the signature of the artist and mark of the manufacturer. After this magnificent bust has been put on sale we have received an exciting information that what we have is a piece of KPM Berlin porcelain from the beginning to mid of 19th century. We have all the reasons to believe this is the case, because the blue Zeptermark (the blue Sceptre mark) is clearly visible. Next to it t is a serial number P5996. (Many thanks Verna!) Regardless the exciting news, we will keep our policy never to change the starting price during the auction! The bust is sold as is, in that respect we kindly ask you to take a close look at the photos. Shipping price is for the registered airmail, but if buyer demands special delivery, the price would be determined upon the end destination. (Marie ThÃf©rÃf¨se Louise de Savoie-Carignan Lamballe, Princesse de Lamballe, 1749-92, was devoted friend and favorite of Queen Marie Antoinette of France. Known for her virtue and kindness, intelligence and culture, The Princesse was the Grande Maitresse of all the French Masonic ladies' lodges, for she saw freemasonry as a tool for creating a better world. Nevertheless, she was extremely unpopular among the commoners. She suffered a gruesome death by a mob during the French Revolution in the September massacres (1792), and her head was displayed on a pike under the queen's windows. )
