Make and model Grundig, Konzertgerät 2070 HiFi Zauberklang (= 'magical sound'), made in Germany, 1956-'57. Description and Features beautiful and impressive, top quality Germany tube radio. Hardwood veneered wooden cabinet with brass trimmings. Features include, LW/MW/SW/FM wavebands. FM frequency range 87-100 Mhz. Tubes: ECC85, ECH81, EF89, EABC80, EM84 *), EL84. 'Magic Band' fluorescent tuning indicator. Built-in dipole antenna for FM. Built-in ferroceptor antenna for MW/LW bands, which can be switched on or off using a knob on the front panel. Sockets for external FM and AM antennas. Input for pickup (recordplayer) or tape recorder (could also be used to connect e.g. a CD player, MP3 player etc.) 3 speakers, including two special electrostatic tweeters for the highest audio frequencies. A very special feature is the 4-band graphic equaliser, called 'Wunschklang Register' by Grundig. See detail picture (below). Quality manufactured in Germany (note the beautiful 'golden' chassis and speaker!). Mains voltage selector 110/125/160/220 Volts. This deluxe radio was very expensive in its time. The introduction price was 299 Deutschmark - equivalent to 3 months rent of a 2-storey, 3-bedroom house..! Item Condition In very nice condition for its age with some scuffs, crazing and other traces of wear and age, which adds to its authentic '50s patina ( scroll down for BIG pictures!). It still has its original varnish. Original knobs, back panel all present. Technical condition: restored to full working order (including the electrostatic tweeters). Faulty parts have been replaced and the original parts have been retained for reference ( picture below). Amazing sound quality! *) A bright EM84 replaces the original EM85 tuning indicator This radio has a voltage selector and will work almost anywhere in the world; reception conditions and antenna requirements may vary.
