This Rare vase was previouslyowned but in great condition, and shows no signs of use. It has no chips, crazing, cracks or repairsand would be an excellent addition to any Spode Christmas Rose collection. 7" high x 3-1/2" diameter at top it is hard to find unlike it's smaller 5" version This attractive pattern was initially produced by Spode in 1890 and is still available. It is bone china with flowers & holly and a red band with gold trim. The Spode Christmas Rose pattern is an excellent choice for the holiday season whether you choose to set your table with it or you go all out. The Helleborus Niger, which is not a rose at all, but a flower that blooms from October to February, was the inspiration for the Christmas Rose Pattern. For many, the Christmas Rose symbolizes the birth of Christ. The Christmas rose sprung out of the frozen ground at Bethlehem on Christmas Eve. Spode Christmas Rose is quite an elegant collection. For the holidays, its a much more formal dinnerware than that of the Christmas Tree. Introduced in 1890 the high quality bone china captures the essence of the Victorian era. Holly and mistletoe are intricately entwined with the Christmas Rose.
