This is a Bone China Tea Cup and Saucer in the "Chelsea Garden" Pattern, produced by W.T. Copleland & Sons, Ltd. at their Spode Works in Stoke, England in the Staffordshire Potteries area. I will offering more of this pattern in subsequent listings. The cup stands 2" tall and measures 3-1/2" across the top. The saucer measures 5-3/8" in diameter. Delicately painted flowers of an English garden in shades of pink, blue, coral and yellow with green leaves, are placed with charming freedom on the famous Chelsea shape in Bone China. Very mild crazing in cup only, barely shows with magnification and a couple small scratches in saucer center caused by cup over the years. Otherwise, no chips, cracks, further scratches, further crazing or discolorations in either piece. Good color and shiny glazed finish. The Spode Backstamp was used from 1904 to 1954 and this piece is from a set that was produced in the 1940's. From 1991 to 1999, I sold antiques and collectibles in many large east coast Antique Shows and two Antique Mall Booths in Virginia and Maryland. After returning home to the Pacific Northwest in 1999, I operated a booth and showcase in the Star Antique Mall in Snohomish, Washington for four years before deciding to sell online full time. I have been selling on eBay since 2002 and guarantee the descriptions and quality of my items. read more
