You are bidding on a commemorative plate for the 2500th anniversary of the founding of the Persian Empire. Included in the auction will be the original storage box for the plate with its' beautiful satin lining. Spode produced this fine bone china plate, measuring approximately 10 1/2 inches across, with 22 carat gold trim and beautifully enameled design. Several of the box's corners and edges are torn, and the lid will not stay open on its' own due to the broken straps inside. This means that while the box may no longer be ideal for display, it is still more than adequate to protect the plate inside.
