A rare Spode Stone-China plate with a variant of Spode pattern 2053, the central pattern being replaced by an image of Britannia, the badge of the IX Regiment of Foot. For details of the Regiment see the website of the Royal Norfolk Regimental Museum at .uk/index.html The use of this pattern and the seal mark would date the plate to c1815. Reference Leonard Whiter "Spode", plate 286 for an image of pattern 2053 and p233 for details of the pseudo Chinese seal mark 19b. Condition: very good, no damage but wear from use to the central image and to the brown enameled edge. The colors are still very bright.
