For 2013 I've decided I'm only going to paint Halloween and Christmas. I have a stack of over 200 patterns that I've never even made and my goal is to make at least one of each design that I have. So if you see something you really like, you might not want to wait. I may have another one available this year, I may not. Honestly I just don't know. Up for auction today is what I call Spongebob and Patrick Christmas Giving. After much research I have changed the materials that I use to create yard art pieces and have gone from regular plywood to MDO or Medium Density Overlay plywood. The reason for this is that MDO has many advantages over regular plywood. Yes it is a little more pricey but I think it's worth it and I hope you will too. MDO is an exterior plywood with a weather resist resin overlay bonded to the wood by heat and pressure. This process bonds the overlay and the wood into one solid piece. The overlay resists water, weather, wear, and degradation. It has a texture that paint can grip and bond to. Paint finishes on MDO are 3 times more durable then the same finish applied to ordinary plywood. And I don't know about you but I'm tired of ordinary holiday displays with short life spans.
