This is a decent example of a Springfield, Harpers Ferry or contract Model 1842 musket barrel which has been cut to 35 inches. The bore is clear and clean and the nipple threads are good. It has the V P and eaglehead proofs but no date. The exterior finish is mostly cleaned gray. The 1842 stock we have listed is original to this barrel. This barrel is an excellent candidate to send to Bob Hoyt or one of the other rebuilders to stretch and reline for reenacting or live shooting. They make great shotguns using 12 gauge fiber wads.
