is a, complete, original trigger guard for the Model 1855 through 1884 45-70 family of Springfield rifles. It is the early type with the early round base that the guard bow fits into and riveted swivel so it would be correct for even the 1855. These parts all have a smooth silver/gray/ brown matching patina and seem to be original to themselves with the possible exception of the trigger. The trigger has original armory blueing but t is original armory blueing on the inside of the plate so it may be one of the hundreds of thousands of musket guards Springfield blued and used as 45-70 guards. In any case, the swivel is free and t are no bends, cracks or hidden problems. It would be a great guard for your musket project or for an M 1866-70 project. This is one of many old parts collected over the years and was not part of an Ebay break up. Please hit the larger picture link to get the close-up view.
