Presented for auction is a LARGE, SQUARE, MILK GLASS PEDESTAL CAKE STAND, probably 1940's or so, from a popular glass company of the Depression-Era who produced glass well into the 1940's/1950's/1960's, like Indiana Glass. This is QUITE A SOLID PIECE of MILK GLASS; and the PLATE is PRISTINE & SHINES "like new"! It looks like it was never used...I haven't been able to see a utensil mark on it! And t are no chips or cracks. It stands a VERY TALL 6 7/8" high...and measures 10 1/2" square to the outside, and 9 3/4" square on the plate surface. It has a deep 2" x 1 1/2" brandy well, and the lovely DIAMOND DRAPED SKIRT extends down 1 1/2", creating an ELEGANT EMBELLISHMENT around the square plate...with a wonderful raised relief. The pattern is beautifully pressed on the underside, and resembles QUILTED DIAMONDS; the pattern is subtly pressed on the pedestal. T are the usual old mould markings from the glassmaking process, like bubbles, straw marks, and swirls/striations. These old pressed glass markings are what give each and every piece of glass their own personality! Quite a GRAND DISPLAY for your dining/dessert table....beautiful vintage Milk Glass.
