St Blaise Single Decade Rosary This handsome single decade or "pocket" rosary, also called a chaplet, has natural semi-precious gemstone beads and a truly special crucifix.The single Our Father bead is a light brown Picture Jasper with darker brown and black markings. The ten Hail Mary beads are mottled green Tree Agates - one of our favorite beads.The 7/8" nickel silver medal has an updated image of St Blaise with a nice shiny finish and "Pray for Us" on the reverse. The 1-1/2" silver-toned St Benedict crucifix has a really beautiful cross with dark red enamel accents.This chaplet is about 9-1/2" long and comes gift-boxed and with the following: How to Pray the Rosary pamphlet How to Pray the Divine Mercy The 15 Promises of Mary St Blaise prayer card St Benedict prayer card Carry Pouch Gift Bag and tissue paper We know this saint from the yearly custom of the blessing of the throats with two crossed candles which is done to this day on his feast day each February. His patronage of throat problems comes from a story that he saved a child who was choking on a bone. He has a lot of other patronages, too. St Blaise was a 4th century bishop who was martyred for his faith. He is the patron saint of veterinarians and animals, wool weavers and the wool trade, stone cutters, carvers, and builders, and of course of throats - throat diseases
