Saint Lucy Single Decade Rosary Chaplet Patron Saint for people with Eye Trouble This Beloved Virgin Martyr who lived and died in the third century, AD during the time of the terrible persecutions of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. She is frequently shown in the curious pose of holding a plate with her two eyeballs in it; this alludes to her tortures which included having her eyes put out - but they were miraculously restored to her before she finally died of those tortures. This has led to her being considered the patron of the blind and those with eye diseases, and she is known in some countries as the Queen of Light. This chaplet has a 1" nickel silver "Five-Way Cross" which is a favorite cross often used in place of a crucifix: it contains many emblems of our faith: represented are angels, saints, the Trinity and Our Lady. The nickel silver medal shows St Lucy with the palm of martyrdom in one hand and her eyeballs on a plate on the other. The back of the medal says Pray for Us. The medal does have a slight defect in the border in one spot, which you can see in the pictures, however I think it just makes the medal look older and more interesting. Both medal and cross were made in Italy, however the chaplet itself was designed and hand made by my sister, Joan in our home in the USA. There is one Our Father Bead and ten Hail Mary
