Up for auction is a beautiful and very rare gilt locket reliquary containing a relic of St. Pope Pius X. The locket measures approximately 1 ¼" in diameter and still sealed with the red wax seal of a Cardinal. The threads are intact. Inside, surrounded by a gold spiral decoration is a first class relic (hair) of St. Pope Pius X. It has a small clasp which allows it to be used as a necklace. Also, included in this auction is a dated (October 19, 1954) and what appears to be an official document (DISCIPLINA PACIS) with the following information: D. ALBERTUS PARENTI. O.S.B.V Postulator Causae Canonizationis S. PII DECIMI SUMMI PONTIFICIS It has a stamp stating: POSTULATOR CAUSAE S. PII PP. X X in purple. The document has been folded several times but still quite legible. If more information is needed, please email me. Some historical information: Pope Pius X (1835-1914; Pope from 1903-1914) "The Pope of the Holy Eucharist" The child of a cobbler and postman, Giuseppe Melchior Sarto arose in a poor family at Riese near Trevino in Italy . He entered the seminary in 1850, was ordained in 1858, and was engaged in pastoral work for the next decades. In 1884 he was appointed bishop of Mantua , then Cardinal and Patriarch of Venice.
