Child's transferware tea set made by Charles Allerton and Sons in Staffordshire, England in the 1890's. The pattern is "Little Mae With Pets." Tea set includes teapot, sugar bowl with lid, cream pitcher, four cups and five plates. Each piece is decorated with a red-brown transfer print scene of a young girl holding a cat on her lap. A cat with a saucer of milk is on one side of her feet and a dog on the other. Marked on the bottom of each dish is the number "Rd. No. 106741 -- No 780." Set includes: Teapot 5 1/2" tall (lid has a chip on the top handle), Sugar with lid 4 12" Cream pitcher 3 1/2" tall Four Cups 2" tall (note two of the cups have visible cracks on the inside, but are still usable) Five Cake Plates 5 1/2" in diameter This set is over 100 years old.
