B17 Description You are viewing a most attractive opportunity We are offering a pair of matching Comforter Dogs Large Examples Affectionately referrred to as 'Wally Dugs' Spaniels Crafted By: Unmarked Staffordshire Origin: England Date: circa 1885 Example from the: Victorian era Colourway: White Glass eyes Background Information: The Staffordshire Potteries made their figures for country people and they took the familiar animals and birds of the countryside as models for their work. Animals were often produced in pairs, especially cats and the very popular dogs of different breeds. Made as right hand and left hand examples, they were originally intentded to be seated on either side of the hearth.
