I am listing several Figures that are early or mid 19th Century Staffordshire or late 18th Century Derby. Most have been in a large collection for many years; others on my living room mantle! Some have factory identification. Most have typical Condition Issues, which are Noted below. DESCRIPTION A mid 19th Century Statue or Figurine made in Staffordshire, England. It depicts what I assume is a Mother with 2 Daughters, the older is holding a Spaniel Dog or Puppy. The Mother is dressed in Highland Costume, with plumed hat and argyle stockings. Perhaps this is a Welsh Group. The figures relax against a tree which serves as a Spill Vase with typical orange interior. This is a mid size piece and the hollow vase would have held a quantity of rolled paper tapers or matches. Clothing of all figures has underglaze cobalt, with highly detailed enamel details . . . I love the woman's skirt! The ground and tree are enhanced by applied, extruded clay flowers; this technique is sometimes called "coleslaw". Like most figures of this type, this has a "flat back" that is not painted. Base is oval with Gold Line. Charming Figure in Excellent Condition. IDENTIFICATION None DIMENSIONS Base Measurements: 3 " x 4 1/4" Height: 8 1/4" CONDITION Excellent Condition for this Genre. NO Chips or Major Cracks or Repairs. Top of Spill Vase is worn and enamel read more
