I am offering a c1830 compote in red/pink transferware with the Aesop's Fables" pattern of "The Fox and the Sick Lion". This scene is depicted on the interior of the fluted compote. On the outside the scene depicts "The Leopard and the Fox". The compote measures 10 inches across by 5 inches high. It is of the leopard and the fox gazing at one another bickering about who is more handsome. The scenes are divided by forest scenery on the other two sides. The foot rim is stippled around the base and decorated in a smaller version of the sides of the inside of the bowl including the trumpet vines with a fox head as the flower.
