This is my own original design of a dog, cat, rabbit, or horse suncatcher; it is edged in lead came and light enough to hang from a suction cup (included). Will one of the finished works look exactly like your pet? probably not. You have to use your imagination and see if it is "close enough". Cloudy day, so this is a scan; in sunlight it is more transparent. This is an Apricot Poodle on violet background. THE SIZE: This example of my art is a 4"x 4" kiln-fired glass tile. I ship the same day as payment. Be Sure to see my OTHER listings of tiles and night lights etc. on ; search SHOPS: windshop. They are BUY IT NOW over there. I am using "budget postage", which will be regular mail in a smaller box instead of Priority, so the postage will be $3.00 instead of $5.00 (small flat rate box). A second tile will go for $1.00 more. IF it is going by mail It is NOT automaticly insured (unlike UPS). IF you are adding the $1.80 for basic insurance: LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENT BOX WHEN YOU PAY so then I can mark it when the label prints. So far (knock on wood) no tiles or night lights have arrived damaged, the packing has been sufficient. On small things "I would risk it for 20% of the cost"; on larger things GET THE INSURANCE. NEED IT NOW? It can go faster, but the cost goes up. I have 2 prices for my glass tiles: If it was painted before Sept. 1, 2010, then it is $10.00. CONSIDER IT ON SALE. If it is more recent, then it is $13.00 because the electric bill came and I had a drastic energy cost increase. All new ones will be $13.00. But, I have lowered the shipping cost $2.00, so there is only a $1.00 increase overall. TECHNIQUE: This Tile has a white opalescent glass base on which I silk-screened MY line drawing (firing 1). I then painted the animal (firing 2), and then painted the background. Next I scratched through the paint in a pattern to reveal the white glass below and fired it in the kiln a third time . I experiment. NO TWO EVER TURNED OUT EXACTLY ALIKE, even of the same basic design, being hand-painted. I HAVE ABOUT 300 OF THESE TILES IN STOCK ALL DIFFERENT. I chose a few to photograph today, but if your breed is not shown here: I DO CUSTOM WORK! PLEASE CONTACT ME AND ASK TO SEE ALL EXAMPLES OF A CERTAIN BREED. Some of the dogs look like mixed breeds, or general dogs. Narrow my search down by describing your pet or send a photo and I can select some to show you.I will gladly show you what I have. I tried to make at least one of all breeds. YES, I could make a tile exactly (as close as I can get) from your photo , or I can do 100 gold labs for your club.No, the price will not be the same as I am asking for this already finished example listed here. The price depends on how well I could capture the animal from a photo with your color preferences. These French enamel glass paints I work with have to be hand mixed and change color in the kiln, so you have less range of colors than an artist using oil paints. You never know until you lift the kiln lid as to the intensity of a color, but part of the process is the surprise. How this would work: I would send you a line drawing and you would owe me upon approval of the design. Payment would be in advance before I ship. Price is determined by "the agony factor" and we reach an agreement before I do anything. I ALWAYS PUT FORTH EFFORT AND DO THE BEST I CAN, a professional job. Good is not FAST, SO KEEP THAT IN MIND AS WELL. Suction Cups: yes, I know they sometimes fall off the window. This can be reduced by: 1. putting it on a double paned glass, 2. cleaning the window first, 3. using a window that gets indirect sun rather than searing sun which evaporates the moisture, 4. after licking the suction cup, letting it stay an hour to see if it is stuck well, and then hanging the suncatcher on it, 5. taking it down every year and washing it in hot water to make it soft and put it back up, 6. not hanging something too heavy on i... read more
