One of the big news stories involving comic books in the past couple years was the ARCHIE GETS MARRIED storyline by writer Michael Uslan and artists Stan Goldberg and Bob Smith that was originally published in ARCHIE # 600-605 . In Issues # 600-602, the story features a futuristic look into the life of Riverdale teen Archie Andrews in the years that follow his college graduation when Archie makes his ultimate decision to marry spoiled rich girl Veronica Lodge instead of sweet girl next door Betty Cooper. In Issues # 603-605, the story switches and Archie proposes marriage to Betty instead of Veronica. I am happy to offer this original from this major storyline! Expectant mother, Betty, is exhausted and prepares to go to bed asking if Archie wants to go hang out with the guys tonight. Archie says he’s going to work on his new songs, his opus! Meanwhile Reggie and Moose are hanging out at Juggie’s (formerly Pop Tate’s). Reggie complains that Archie hasn’t chilled out with them once since he moved back. Moose says to give him a break, he’s married now. At least he came back unlike Dilton and Moose shows him a newspaper clipping from a Roswell, NM newspaper telling about his discovering a parallel universe and disappearing. Weird says Reggie and Moose replied is it any weirder than Archie Marrying Betty, Midge Marrying Jughead or you engaged to Veronica? Life’s full of surprises. Reggie replies, like you (Moose) being more mature than all of us, and Moose replies, luckily he didn’t peak in high school. One of the top Archie Comics artists, Stan Goldberg began his career in 1949 at age sixteen as a staff artist for Timely / Marvel, where he was in charge of the coloring department where he worked until 1970. During the same time period from 1949 to the late 1960s, he also illustrated horror stories, drew gag cartoons for men's magazines, and drew such titles for Marvel as Patsy Walker , Millie the Model , and several funny animal titles. From 1968 to 1970, Stan drew the teen-age titles for DC Comics which included Swing With Scooter , and Binky . Since 1968, Stan has drawn almost exclusively for Archie Comics titles.
