Standard Oil Company GOLD Crown Valve Stem Caps - Gas Item Description: For sale is "4" original GOLD CROWN valve stem caps that the Standard Oil Company gave away in the 1940's to 1960's at their Red Crown gasoline stations. They have never been used and were found in a basement of a house we bought in 2001. As you can see from the photo - they have all of the detail you would expect from a relic of the victorian past ! I only have a few of these N.O.S. (New Old Stock) originals left - once they are gone they are gone for good! We have 3 colors of them for sale on ebay so please look at our other auctions for other colors, once we are sold out - that is all we will have ! The Standard Oil Company marked gasoline under the branded name of Red Crown, White Crown, & Gold Crown starting in 1910 all the way through the 1960's. To promote their gasoline staions they gave away many promotional items that would serve as "free advertising" for their staions. These were the most popular of all of the giveaways !
