Handcrafted Ferret Necklace. This necklace has the image of a standing Ferret which I mount on organic enamel. The necklace is made from the organic enamel scales of a Louisiana Gar. The scales of a gar are unique in that the gar is the only fish on the planet that have scales of pure, hard, enamel, like a tooth. Indians used gar scales like these for spear points and arrowheads. Enamel is the hardest organic material on earth, much harder than bone, antler, or ivory. I have been designing and making Gar Scale Jewelry for over 20 years. These image necklaces are my latest creation. I process and laminate the image onto the scale to make a durable and permanent presentation. The scale is then mounted on a black rolled leather cord with fashionable beads and a silver-plated lobster claw clasp, all hand crafted by me on an individual basis. I can make any length necklace you need. Beads will vary depending on availability and pendant design. The necklace is strong, lightweight, very comfortable to wear and is designed for men, women, or children. I sign and date the back of each pendant, and each one is unique in shape & pattern.
