Offered for auction sale is a wonderfully styled, decorated, glazed, and molded, Factory Pottery Lamp , Starflower Floral pattern , made in New Jersey by Stangl Pottery only in 1938 . This shapely pottery lamp base has an attractive background soft satiny aqua green glaze, with a crisp relief molded pattern including brown stem, foliage, and blue berries on each side. Atop this pattern, front and back, is a blue, brown, and green abstract "starburst" flower. Along each side is a triple looped and ridged handle with brown border. The closed top rim has an incised 3-ridged pattern on the front, back, and both sides, while the base has a continuous incised ridged pattern. The base is further enhanced with a blue edged border line. The shape and design resembles an Asian influenced lamp or vase, while t is an overall Arts and Crafts style appearance. This pottery lamp base is 9 1/2" high, with a 4 3/4" base diameter. With the harp and finial, it is 19 1/2" tall. The pottery is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, crazing, or repairs. The Asian-styled linen shade has vertical ridges and both convex and concave angles. It is also in excellent condition with no rips, stains, or tears. The underside of the lamp base edge is incised, "STANGL U.S.A.", and with what appears to be number "505".
