This you don't see to often, 1- RARE!! STANLEY # 14 Type 1 (1884-1909) 4" ADJUSTABLE TRY SQUARE. The blade is stamped "STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO."-"PAT.OCT.24.82". It has 1/8th" graduations on both sides of blade. It uses a cam locking screw in the head for the blade adjustment. The JAPANING i would say is 95% or slightly better. The Head is smooth on all surfaces and has slight staining and patina(i would say that's normal for at LEAST 102 years old lol). Blade has slight pitting & staining on it,again somewhat normal here. The "S" in "STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO." is mostly gone from wear, but everything else is readable with the naked eye. The inch numbers (1,2,and 3,no #4 as that's the end of the blade) are worn but readable with naked eye. The graduations are probably the most readable of everything, certainly making this tool still very usable at the workbench. The other only notable thing is the cam screw slot itself. Looks like someone used to small of a screwdriver tip and it slipped causing an uneven slot now.NOTE: It still works fine though,as i loosened it to slide the blade as seen in picture. NOTE!! For some reason the pics listed actually make this look slightly better than this 102 plus year old tool really is,but not by much.I'm just trying to be honest and don't want any buyer dissapointment later on when you get it.The read more
