This is a Stanley #40 Scrub Plane in very good condition. Bed: The japanning is at about 95% on the inside, 85% on the right side and 65% on the left side. No chips or cracks, a couple of very light clean smooth pit spots and the owners initials lightly stamped on the sides and sole tail. Cap: The japanning is at about 85% with no chips or cracks. Blade: Show about 1 ½" to the temper line, no chips or cracks, a few light clean smooth pit spots, and the owners initials lightly stamped below the logo. Knob: Excellent with light use wear marks. Tote: Excellent with light use wear marks and a K lightly scribed behind the screw. All screw slots, threads and knurling are nice.
