I have a very nice Type 5 Stanley 45 combination plane for auction. The main casting is in good shape with some general nickel loss. The "Stanley Rule & Level Co. Pat. Mch. 11 84" on the skate is obscured by pitting in the finish but legible. This plane has the screw-in arm type with a wing nut to secure the slitter and slitter depth stop, which are missing. All other screws are present and, as far as I can tell, original, and both spurs are present and show little wear. The blade adjustment and lock turn freely. I acquired the plane with two depth stops - the smaller type typically mounted on the main casting - and I don't know if the Type 5 should come with the longer beading stop for the middle section or if the depth stop I have is the correct one. The fence does not have a rosewood attachment, and t is a minor flaw on the bottom - it does not appear to be a chip but rather a small bubble in the casting. It is a cosmetic blemish that won't affect use. Both sections suffer some nickel loss but are, like the main casting, in good shape. The plane comes with plow blades 11 through 19, minus the 18 1/2 blade (3/16" through1/2" in 16ths; 5/8", 3/4", & 7/8"), and beading blades 25, 27, and 28 - I think. I may have measured them incorrectly: the overall width of the blades is 3/8", 1/2", and 9/16", the last of which is incorrect according read more
