Stanley #95 Edge Trimming Plane Presented for your woodworking pleasure is a nice Stanley #95 edge trimming plane. It is complete and fully functional. Most of the original japan finish remains. This hard to find plane is used for trimming up sides and edges of boards. Cutting on the skew means that it is right at home cutting along the edge or on that pesky end grain. This little orphan came to me as just a sole. I made a blade for it and also made the bladeholder. The blade is tool steel which has been professionally heat treated. The blade holder is cut down from a Stanley #78. It functions well with these new parts. The non-original parts on this plane have sent our collectors scurrying for cover. Now us users can talk. This is a user plane and is a handy plane to have in the workshop. It is perfect for precision trimming. Just look at the wispy shavings. The blade cuts on a skew angle so the shavings look like little seashells. This is a handy little plane to use for squaring up edges. With the integrated right angle in the sole, t is no way you can miss on a 90 degree angle. In addition, the skew cut works well on end grain. It leaves a smooth finish.
