This is a Stanley everlast wood chisel. It is marked "New Britain Conn. USA" & "SW" in a heart on the socket. T are also probably four pat dates, but I can't make them out. It is also marked "Stanley" inside of a box on the blade. This chisel measures 9 3/8in overall, and has 3 1/8 in of usable blade left. This is still a usable chisel, as these were hardened the full length of the blade. The blade has no pits, but t is a ding in the side at the middle of the length of the blade. This would take a long time to reach. The blade will need a proper sharpening. The socket has some dings from use on the front w the patent stamping is located. The socket is solid, the handle is tight, and the butt cap shows signs of use (but not abuse). The handle is the "coke" bottle style, and the wood has no cracks or chips. The handle has been refurbished with a clear laquer, and the metal has been cleaned and polished up some. This chisel is not really a "collector" piece, but it still feels great in the hand and is a good usable example of one of the finest chisels ever made.
