This auction is for a Vintage Stanley No 5 Jack Plane. It is a Type 14 manufactured between 1929 and 1930. The japanning on the body is about 90% and looks very nice. It is marked U.S. PAT, APR-19-10 behind the frog and No. 5 behind the handle. Bailey in front of the tall knob and Made in USA behind it. Stanley in the Notched Rectangle is cast on the levercap with the straight slot and orange infill. There is still remnants of the original orange on the sides of the frog. This was done by Stanley for a short time only in 1930, so you don't see it very often. It has the large diameter brass adjustment nut, The handle and knob are both Rosewood and look very nice. The cutter is marked with the (AA) Stanley SW trademark. The cutter is razor sharp with plenty of life left. It is ready to put right to use after receiving it. All adjustments work and move freely. This is a very nice Vintage Stanley Plane that is ready to be put back into service. The Stanley Type 13, 14 and 15 planes went through alot of subtle changes in the 1920's to the early 30's. The Type 14's were only produced for 2 years from 1929-1930 making them much less common than some of the other Type's. If you like to use the Vintage less common planes in your shop I think you'll like this one!! Shipping to the US only. Other Countries must contact me prior to bidding read more
