Up for bid is a Stanley no. 10 Carriage Plane Rabbet Plane. I've found a couple of patent dates on the plane....the cutting iron is marked Stanley Pat. AP'L 19, 92 while the iron plane cap is marked L. Bailey's Patent Dec. 24, 1867. I'm uncertain if these were all original parts or if someone pieced together this plane. The plane does have a broken frog as can be seen in one of the photos. The cast iron bed is in good condition with no cracks. Cast into the toe of the plane is "No. 10". The plane measures approximately 12 3/4" long and is 2 1/8" wide. The handle looks as though it has a chip missing from the very tip. The front knob is made of hard black plastic. I beleive that these planes were made from around 1870 until 1957. Much of the japanning remains on the inside of the plane and t are a few paint spots on the item.
