Stanley No. 2 Plane LongThis rare plane is in excellent condition with no defects and essentially an unused plane with %100 japanning and patina with time. The scarcity of this plane is attributed to the last of the No. 2 planes manufactured by Stanley in limited quantity. This plane is 8âe long vs. 7 1/2âe on prior NO. 2 planes. Essentially 1/2âe longer on the body length. Manufactured probably between 1948-1961. However, this particular plane with Rosewood handle and knob, the time frame could be prior to 1958 since from 1958-1961, Stanley used other hardwood knob and handle. Also, from 1948-1961, the lateral on the frog is stamped vertically âeoeSTANLEYâe with a 1 1/4âe diameter wheel. (J. Walters Tool catalog) The rosewood handle and knob are in excellent condition and all parts are original. See photo for plane and parts. This plane is truly a choice collector plane.
