is a very nice example of Stanley's ingenious No. 30 Angle Divider that was produced between 1905 and 1969. I find that they are simply one of the quickest and most accurate ways of determining the exact angle of cut when attempting to miter two pieces together at an unknown angle. The tool is especially handy when installing stile and rail wainscoting on stair cases, as the tool has quite a remarkable range, allowing measurement of the most obtuse angles. It is also handy when working crown mold and chair rail into rooms with odd angled corners. The tool is simple to use, one simply sets the arms to the inside or outside corner angle, locks the thumb screw and transfers the correct miter angle, (1/2 of the corner angle), to the work piece by holding the fence, (body of the tool), against the edge and marking a line along the edge of either arm. The result is a perfect fitting miter each and every time! This example is complete and in fine working order. Everything functions in a smooth and precise manner. The nickel plating is extremely well preserved on this example and the tool appears to have seen little if any use. The square blade (for 90 degree work) at the bottom of the tool, looks bowed in a couple of the pictures, but is in fact perfectly straight and is removable to allow the divider arms to fit into very tight angles. read more
