Up for Auction........................This plane is one of the first that had the knob on the fence rather than on the body. It is listed as 1896 to 1906. As the center section shows an âeoeSâe rather than a âeoeBâe casting mark, it is from the early part of the time range. In this time period t was no cam rest provided The skate is stamped: STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO./ PAT. MCH 11, 84/ PAT JAN 22, 96. At the rear of the center section is: STANLEY, and at the front is âeoe45âe. On the right side of the body is No/45 in large letters. Both spurs are mounted. The handle is riveted top and bottom. The handle (without bottom horn profile), the beaded knob and the fence guide are rosewood. They are in very nice shape. The iron is nickel plated but shows wear in some places.T are short rods and a beading attachment included. The box of blades has the original label (almost completely readable). T are 20 blades (as specified for this model) including the sash bit in the plane and the slitter in the plane. T are 7 beading bits and 10 plow or dado bit, and 1 tonguing bit. All bits have a proper notch at the top rather than the hole (except the two smallest plow bits that are too narrow for a notch, and of course the slitter). These are exactly what is specified on the label. Both depth stops are mounted, and all screws are original. The chestnut box is what is specified for this model. It is in excellent shape except for a split in the bottom board. It is mechanically tight as a drum, with a smooth sliding lid (old replacement). The nice part of the box is the very close corner fittings and the box label which is mostly readable. What a tool!
