Gorgeous original patina on this type 2 example of Stanley's short rabbet plane. No breaks, chips, cracks or flaws in any of the castings. Perfe ct sole with no rust anywhere. No chips on the lever cap. Beautiful rosewood totes showing only the proper wear with the only a small chunk out of the bottom of the front tote and a minor divot on the right side of the rear tote. Also there are faint owner's initials near the sole on the right side. Japanning is better than 70%. Original cutter was worn all the way to the slot so I have replaced it with a brand new Ray Iles iron that is vastly superior. If you want to make this tool a shelf sitter, an original vintage Stanley iron can be found if you're willing to haunt eBay for one. Mouth is clean, square and ADJUSTABLE! Ready for the shelf or whet the iron and put it to work. No reservations wha tso ever on th is fine vintage tool. See the pics... The se are darn hard to find in ANY condition and this one is schweeeeeet! If you are not completely satisfied for any reason just contact me and I will make it right .
