Extremely rare material which was (most likely) used tocreate the "Aspirator" grille on the classic Star Trek TOS P1phasers.The source of the material has remained elusive for decades, It's unknown where exactly Wah Chang found the material , but considering his ingenuity, and preference (read budget) for utilizing found objects to create his iconic props, it was most likely re-purposed from an already produced commercial product. Fans and hobbyists have searched in vain for years and even the best (and professional) prop makers (JL, GJ, ME,RC,SH,EM,BN etc.) Have come very close, but ultimately have resorted to using pressed aluminum sheets to produce a close facsimile to the original mylar material. EM has used a mylar material which is similar but ultimately inaccurate .I have sourced an extremely limited amount of the mylar material which exhibits the same diamond shape with the appropriate spacing and inverted pyramid profile, the back of the material (see pics) shows the same brownish color seen in the various archival and auction photos of the Dwyer Phasers, both stunts and the models known as the "Bum" model ( City On The Edge Of Forever) It displays the same pressure characteristics ( fingernail tests) as the original material.The material is highly reflective and photos are particularly difficult as the material changes
