* * * * * Up for sale are three of the earliest and most important ORIGINAL STAR WARS ADVANCES - MINT! I have posted Interesting information and research about these GENUINE ORIGINALS below:THE STAR WARS CORPERATION started marketing Star Wars in 1976. A new book "The Making Of Star Wars" was just released a few months ago for the 30th anniversary of the film. This great book goes into great detail about the Star Wars Corporation's marketing of Star Wars. When the Howard Chaykin poster was released in 1976 at comic book conventions, the Star Wars Corporation handed out a two-sided flyer advertising the film (see photos # 1, 5, 6, &7). Great early information is on it. CLEARLY printed before the completion of the film, the flyer speaks of many elements that were eventually changed. AMAZING to read and a must for the serious Star Wars collector. Very few survived. A real treasured early piece of cinema history. MINI-WINDOW POSTERS - The original press-book for Star Wars instructs theater managers to "wild post in and around campuses; on bulletin boards, in meeting halls, cafeterias, bookstores, music shops, everyw students congregate." These SUPER RARE ADVANCE Mini Window Posters offered in this auction were used for exactly that purpose, as well as being displayed at the movie theater ticket counters. When Fox began to market Star Wars in early 1977 they could not decide on how to market the film. Mark Hamill did a QVC television program on Oct. 28, 1992 and was quoted to say, "When [Star Wars] opened we didn't have any posters--we just had photographs outside the building." He elaborates by saying that, "Fox wasn't sure what campaign to go with--an adventure, a 2001 odyssey, etc." The 2 mini window posters offered demonstrate nicely the early Star Wars campaign problems. The wordy Teaser pictured in the middle (see photo #1) speaks of "Odyssey" and "Imagination" but does not deliver. This poster was dropped from the campaign early on, before the film's release. Mini window posters have been used by the motion picture industry since the silent film days. Not all films released had mini window posters. Mostly big films such as The Wizard of Oz, King Kong, Casablanca , all the way to 2001: A Space Odyssey used mini window posters. They are among the rarest of all posters made, MUCH RARER than the one sheets! Most were hung and used, few survived. No Star Wars poster collection is complete without these! All 3 of these items are in MINT ORIGINAL CONDITION! The first Mini-Window Poster with the May 25 release date measures 7 1/2" x 6 3/4". The "Odyssey" version with the PG logo measures 9 1/2" x 7 3/4," and the STAR WARS CORPORATION 1976 FLYER measures 8 1/2" x 11". Recently on July 15, 2007 another dealer auctioned one of each of the Mini-Window Posters. RESULTS: Star Wars "Odyssey" Mini Window Poster - ebay Item number: 190131598092 sold for $222.50 Star Wars Window Mini-Window Poster - eBay number: 190131597838 sold for $123.52 I have started this auction that INCLUDES BOTH the original Mini Window Posters AND The Star Wars Corporation 1976 Flyer at ONLY $299 and NO RESERVE.I also have a lot of Star Wars and classic posters for sale right now.
