You are bidding on a high-quality prop replica of Luke Skywalker's lightsaber as mostly modeled after the saber seen in The Empire Strikes Back. The key word is "mostly" because although its details follow the ESB model, it is missing the rivets near the base of the hilt. I'm quite sure this could be added by someone with the proper tools and equipment--or it can be more easily converted to the ANH model by switching out one of the red button knobs with a glass bulb and replacing the strip on the clamp with the calculator bubbles. It is a non-working saber--no electronics, no blade, nada. This is just a hilt, and can be worn on a belt with the D-ring on the base. I can't say for certain whether this was made with an actual Graflex flash gun, though I doubt it. The area w the label GRAFLEX would be engraved was covered with a strip of aluminum tape, and the clamp does loosen; when loosened it's obvious the handle is two separate pieces, and they can be twisted around a bit, but I've never attempted to pull them apart. It's equally possible this is simply a very good replica of a Graflex flash gun itself, and probably more likely. In any case, the body and all major parts are machined aluminum. I've owned this prop for several years now, and as Luke himself puts it, it's "seen a lot of action." It's been worn several times as a costume accessory, and as careful as I've been with it, sometimes you just can't avoid some wear and tear. But the damage is only cosmetic. I've highlighted a couple of the most visible scratches (see the photos with yellow circles). The aluminum tape has a rather nasty ding in it, but I thought better of trying to remove and replace it since the adhesive is likely very strong and I'd rather not risk a bigger mess. I think this is a minor problem that can be fixed either with some solvent and elbow grease, or a fresh piece of tape lain over the top. T are some other scratches near the top by the lower red button and brass pin terminals. And the very top of the "emitter shroud" (the curved part right above the "rabbit ears") has a small chip in the plating. This cosmetic damage would certainly not be appealing in a prop intended only for display purposes. But for anyone interested in using this as I have, as a costume accessory, the "weatd" look might help add some battle-worn authenticity. I've pointed these details out so any potential bidder knows exactly what they're getting, but they're not terribly apparent upon a cursory glance. Even from a short distance away they're hard to catch (I'd say the aluminum tape ding is the most visible) and don't really detract from the overall look of the prop. And they really won't show up in photos unless it's an extreme close-up with a super-high megapixel camera! I actually needed to increase the contrast in my pictures for the two "damage" shots to make them stand out more. As I said, I've owned this saber for a long time and have worn it on several occasions, but it's actually been in storage for over a year as I since upgraded to a converted Master Replicas FX with Luxeon LED and removable blade. Rather than let it languish in a cardboard box in the dark of my closet, I'd be happy to see it go to the home of another fan who'd enjoy it as much as I did. Because of its less-than-pristine condition, I've set it at a super-low price with no reserve. Celebration IV may be over, but San Diego Comic Con is less than 3 weeks away, so if you're looking for a simple but elegant prop saber for your costume, consider this one.
