It's that time again. is another one from the vault. Up for grabs is a CGC graded copy of Startling Comics #49 in 4.5 VG+ condition, with cream to off-white pages. This book features a super classic robot cover by none other than Alex Schomburg. This particular copy is structurally tight. The grade results from fairly extensive edge foxing and mildew. Note: these bio chemical processes are no longer active as the book has been stored in a climate controlled enviornment with regular examinations for the last 2 years. The foxing and discoloration appears as small black dots around the edges of the book and more heavily on the lower back cover. The cover image under the title presents well. The back cover shows most of the damage. All of these defects were present at the time of grading and contributed to the overall grade. Unfortunately my scanner hates thick slabs so please bear with me for the pics. The color anomalies present are from the scanner/camera (some of these shots are scans and some are pics. Specifically the first 3 are scans and represent the colors on this book the most accurately. The flash on the close up picks brightened the book a bit but helped to highlight the foxing defects. If you have any questions please let me know. Recently a VF+ copy of this book sold for more than $6500 so consider this an affordable but still relatively nice alternative at a fraction of the cost.
