I have decided to put this Map up for auction, is has been in my collection for a few years, I am the only collector to have owned it as it came out of the "woodwork" over , I purchased it directly from the owner who had kept it since WW2 as a momento along with other items. The Map is an original "captured", 1943 Dated German Army 1:25,000 Scale Map of the Ste Mere Eglise area, it is the Northern half of two maps and is Map No.1 of 2, it is clearly marked STE MERE EGLISE Deutches Heeres Karte (German Army Map), it is 1:25,000 scale so it details every Orchard, House, Outbuilding, River, Bridge, Field, very highly detailed and in full colour. The most interesting part about this map are some of the place names and villages that are clearly shown such as the very famous MARMION FARM, Crisbecq, Azeville (Crisbecq and Azeville Coastla Batteries), Neuville au Plain, to name but a few, also Les Heutes and Timmes Orchard are clearly visible on the map. This is in good condition except for some slight discolouration and a few small tears to the top of the map, although none of that actually interferes with the actual map picture itself.A very rare hard to find item, this one was left behind in a Farmhouse near Montebourg by US troops in mid-June 44, obviously a captured piece!Guaranteed 100% Original. RESERVE IS SET AT $175.00 KEYWORDS: read more
