You are bidding on the YOKE from a B-52D serial #56-667 The yoke turns amazingly smooth and the toggles and switches are all in typical condition. This piece of history was purchased at a Federal DRMO auction in 1997. This aircraft was part of the Arc Light mission that originated from Anderson Air Force Base located in Guam flew for over twelve hours to reach their intended target in Southeast Asia and return back to the base in Guam. The weight of the B-52's when loaded with bombs was in fact too heavy to take off with a full load of fuel. The bombers once airborne would form up into cells of three aircraft and then take on a full load a fuel from orbiting KC-135's. They would proceed to their assigned target area, drop their bombs and return to a designated area for refueling again before finally landing at Anderson AFB in Guam. Add to the time of the pre-flight and post-flight briefings and each of the crews could spend eighteen hours flying just one mission. I have attached the documentation and history of this aircraft. You will be amazed! GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BIDDING!!!
