A stereoview from Italy depicting the sculpture The Greek Slave by Hiram Powers. This statue was taken up as a symbol by abolitionists during the American Civil War and a number of copies were produced by Powers, who was world renowned and moved from the U.S.A. to Florence, where he settled, worked and died. By L. Powers of Florence who was presumably his son Nicholas Longworth Powers, sculptor and also a photgrapher . (RB) Good condition. Stereoviews are typically 17.25 cm. x 8.25 cm. Postage is £1.50 to the U.K. and £3.25 to Europe and £3.75 to the rest of the world. Parcels with a value over £45 will be charged for and sent by "Recorded signed for" (£1.10 extra) for the U.K. or "International Signed For" or "Airsure" (£5.30 extra) for overseas.
