Offered is a coffee or tea service in sterling silver. The set consists of four pieces. They are a coffee or tea pot, creamer, covered sugar and waste bowl. Each of the four pieces is marked on the bottom Bigelow Bros. & Kennard Boston Sterling. This mark dates the set from the period 1845 to 1863. The marking is deep inside the stem of each piece and can not be photographed without special equipment. The following weights are approximate and were obtained using a kitchen scale. This same scale is used for weighting package before taking to the Post Office. I know it is accurate to within an ounce. The coffee or tea pot has a weight of 1 lb 13 oz or 822 grams. The creamer has a weight of 13 oz or 369 grams. The covered sugar has a weight of 1 lb 6 oz or 624 grams. The waste bowl has a weight of 13 oz or 369 grams. The total weight of the four pieces is approximately 2184 grams. Each of the four pieces is engraved. Please refer to the pictures for a detail of the engraving. It is identical on all four pieces. The condition is excellent with one exception. The covered sugar has a small indentation on one side. A silversmith should be able to remove if desired.
