Hello folks! Up for sale is a beautiful sterling silver souvenir spoon from Nome alaska. It has a nice motif of an eskimo woman carrying a small child on her shoulders. They are both wearing traditional clothing of the eskimo people. It is stamped sterling on the back and has a couple other marks as well. They are the letters S & H with Nome written under them. T is also a pick and a shovel with the letters M and a B on either side of these tools. The pick and shovel marks stand for Mayers & brothers Inc. They established their business in 1895 and incorporated in 1920. They were later bought out in 1945 by another silver company. If someone has an idea as to the exact age of the spoon or any other pertinent information about the spoon I would love to hear from you. Please write me. The spoon is approximately 4 and 1/2 inches long and is in good condition but needs a good polishing. The only thing wrong with the spoon that i can see is that the front lip of the spoon (w someone would put it in their mouth - see pic) is slightly bent upwards. I'm not sure if this happened in the manufacturing of the spoon or not. I don't believe this affects the value of the spoon and if the new owner wants they can fiddle with bending it back. I'm not going to. The spoon is being sold as is. The spoon is heavy for its size weighing 31 grams. If u have any questions for me please feel free to write me prior to the auctions end. Thanks and good luck bidding.
