Sterling Silver Chalice Paten, IHS, Crown of Thorns

You are bidding on an ornately decorated sterling silver chalice paten, which is virtually identical to one I recently sold on eBay except for its condition. In the center of the convex side of the paten are the initials IHS, signifying Jesus. These initials are superimposed on a cross with tri-lobed ends. Surrounding the IHS and cross is the image of a crown of thorns. Encircling the crown of thorns is an additional decoration suggesting rays of light. Near one edge on this side the paten is marked with the word "STERLING". The concave side of the paten is unmarked. This paten measures 4 and 7/8 inches in diameter. T is damage close to one edge of the paten. It appears that someone attempted to minimize this damage by applying a rotary tool to the area. This area measures approximately 2" x 1" (please see photo). It does not affect the IHS symbol or crown of thorns design. Please email with questions.
